Pollyanna Rules

Silver line in the cloud, there surely is no hurry, but would you mind showing up?!

a break from Beirut

Well, I have hot water, and water, and electricity all day long. Non-stop. Always.

Wasn’t used to that anymore, and once I recovered from the shock – which has taken me one good week – I realised I might get used to it. But better not.

Cold showers

The boiler died.
No heating. Well, I am a “think positive” kind of person, right? I decided I could survive.
No hot water. I am still the “think positive” kind of person I was one line up but, well, no.
And, needless to say, it happened on Saturday morning, when the maintenance guy had decided to take a well deserved weekend off. It might have been the last warm one, after all. Wise man.

I felt icicles forming on my hands, hair, face, feet, nose, everywhere.

Now, I realise this might seem slightly exaggerated,  but I really cannot stand the cold. I can’t.
Can you imagine how I suffered growing up on the mountains? I was not anti-social, I just wasn’t brave enough to face the outside temperatures.
Yes, we had summers, but still.

Anyway, last weekend was hell. Freezing hell. I kept trying to call the guy, one never knows, he might have been missing work. Or felt there was something wrong in my house. He didn’t.
He responded to my desperate e-mail the second he opened the shop yesterday, though, and I felt very grateful. My mouth would have arrived behind my ears, as it often does when I am really happy, had it not been frozen. 🙂

He’s coming today. Lunchtime. I work one hour /three buses ride from home, I’ll have to go in the afternoon and work from home this morning.

And I could sleep in.

I felt icicles forming…everywhere

Oh, by the way, it was 28° outside the whole weekend 🙂
